Welcome To Prakriti Yoga School

I'm Ritika. I grew up in these mountains, and I learned yoga the way you learn something from the place you're from: gradually, mostly by watching. Later, I went on to earn professional training to help individuals attain their health goals. However, when it comes to Yoga, I teach it as something that belongs to the body and the breath first, and to the mat second.

At Prakriti Yoga School, I bring everything together with a few other things I care about, so each part supports the practice in a different way:

A real, working understanding of anatomy, so you know what's actually happening in your body when you move, not just whether the posture or pose looks right.

The Ayurvedic knowledge of this region is provided by an in-house physician who works alongside the yoga practice, not separately from it.

Enough unscheduled time in nature by the Ganges, in the villages around Tapovan, to let all your internal unrest, stress, and chaos settle before you go home.

We're based at the Earth Roots Ayurveda Panchakarma Center, an established wellness facility in Tapovan, set on the edge of the Ganges with the mountains rising up right behind it. It's our holistic wellness and retreat center where our in-house Ayurvedic doctor, called as Vaidya, sees patients here year-round for genuine Ayurvedic treatment, on the same panchakarma protocols retreat guests use, not a program assembled for the season.

The rooms are comfortable and built simply rather than styled to impress: mountain views, hot water, Wi-Fi when you want it, a yoga deck and gardens for the parts of the day that don't need a roof over them. It's not a resort dressed up as a retreat. It's a holistic wellness facility with comfortable and good rooms that make you feel at home.

Our Yoga Retreats Program

We offer 3 different retreat durations that allow you to choose the best option. The daily rhythm is the same across all three retreats. What changes is how much room you give it, and how much time you're prepared to commit to your own holistic wellbeing. None of the three is a shortened or padded version of the others. They're built for different amounts of time and different starting points.

Yoga Meditation & Ayurveda Retreat

Long enough for the Ayurvedic therapies to actually work with your body's own rhythm, not just around it. After this retreat, most people leave with a plan they can keep using at home.

What We Offer in The Retreats at Prakriti Yoga School

  • Yogasana A daily yoga practice taught under expert guidance with an anatomy-informed eye, and not just gaining perfection in the postures. Classes meet whatever body you bring to the mat that day.
  • Pranayama You will learn breath work as a daily discipline that you can take back home. It’s not an add-on. Each session builds gradually, so by the end of your stay the breathing techniques feel familiar enough to use on your own. Five minutes before a hard meeting, or ten minutes to wind down at night.
  • Meditation The guided meditation sessions are built into the rhythm of each day to help you centre and become one with yourself. Some sessions happen seated on the mat, some by the Ganges at the hour it's quietest and some simply sitting still with nothing scheduled.
  • Shatkarma Traditional yogic cleansing practices that will help you feel lighter and clearer with every passing day. These are classical techniques from the Hatha yoga tradition, taught under proper guidance.
  • Ayurveda Personal consultation and therapies with an in-house physician are included to assess your body's requirements and guide you throughout your retreat. Your stay begins with Nadi Parikshan, a traditional pulse diagnosis.
  • Nature and Culture Time in the villages, the trails, and the Ganges itself. Some days you'd walk through the meadows and quieter corners around Tapovan; other days it's simply sitting by the river at the hour still.
  • Sattvic Food Three meals a day, cooked for the practice you're doing. The food follows sattvic principles - light, vegetarian, and easy on digestion. The meals are chosen to support what you're doing on the mat rather than sit heavy against it.
